Privacy Policy
Effective July 27, 2026
The short version: Pit Stop has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no server that collects your data. Your location is processed entirely on your phone against a built-in exit database and never sent to us. We don't collect, store, sell, or share personal information — we couldn't even if we wanted to.
Location
Pit Stop uses your device's location to figure out which highway you're on, which direction you're traveling, and which exits are ahead. All of this happens on your device: the app compares your GPS position against an exit database that ships inside the app. Your location is never transmitted to Pit Stop or any server we operate, and it is not stored beyond what the app needs from moment to moment. Location is used only while you're using the app.
Microphone and voice search
If you use voice search, the microphone activates only after you tap the mic button and stops when your phrase ends or you cancel. Speech is converted to text using Apple's speech recognition service, which may process audio on-device or on Apple's servers under Apple's privacy policy. Pit Stop does not record, store, or transmit your audio, and the recognized text is used only to run your search on-device.
Brand logos
To display business logos on exit listings, the app fetches small icon images from third-party icon services (Google's favicon service and DuckDuckGo's icon service). These requests identify the business's website domain being looked up — not you, your location, or your search history — though like any internet request they include your IP address, handled under those providers' privacy policies.
Navigation handoff
When you tap a place for directions, Pit Stop opens Apple Maps with that place's coordinates. From that point, Apple Maps operates under Apple's privacy policy.
What we collect
Nothing. Pit Stop has no user accounts, no sign-in, no advertising, no third-party analytics, and no tracking. We do not collect, store, sell, or share personal data. In App Store privacy terms, Pit Stop's label is “Data Not Collected.”
Children
Pit Stop is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If Pit Stop ever adds features that change how data is handled (for example, optional accounts or crash reporting), we'll update this policy first and note the change here with a new effective date.

Exit and place data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Pit Stop is not affiliated with the businesses shown; names and logos identify businesses located near highway exits.
